Biography

Glenn Garlick, ASA, is a Managing Director at Cogent Valuation and leads the firm’s Orange County office. He has provided business valuation and related financial advisory services on a full-time basis since 1982.

Mr. Garlick has managed more than 1,000 valuation engagements involving companies ranging from small, closely held businesses with less than $1 million in revenue to multinational, publicly traded companies with revenues in the tens of billions. His work has been performed for a wide range of purposes, including mergers and acquisitions, fairness and solvency opinions, corporate restructurings, leveraged buyouts, early-stage equity investments, estate and gift tax planning, ESOP transactions, financial reporting and compliance, and litigation support.

Mr. Garlick has served clients across virtually all major industries, including aerospace, energy, computer hardware and software, biotechnology, internet, professional services, financial services, apparel, food and beverage, consumer products, retail, wholesale, and manufacturing. He has extensive experience in corporate transactions, including complex securities design and equity allocation issues.

In addition to his transaction and advisory experience, Mr. Garlick has addressed valuation matters with the Internal Revenue Service for income, gift, and estate tax purposes. He has also provided expert testimony in courts in California and Utah, as well as testimony before members of the American Arbitration Association.

Prior to joining Cogent Valuation, Mr. Garlick provided business valuation and financial advisory services with Houlihan Lokey from 1982 to 1991, serving as an officer during his last four years with the firm.

Mr. Garlick is an Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuation with the American Society of Appraisers. He has written and spoken extensively on valuation topics, including programs offered for MCLE and CPA credit.

Education:

M.B.A. from the University of Houston and a B.B.A. from Florida Atlantic University.
